Since 1929 the Oscars have graced our screens celebrating not only some of the greatest achievements in the film industry but also providing us some of the biggest pop culture moments in entertainment history.  From the infamous Will Smith Slap to Cher’s iconic revenge dress, the Oscars almost always guarantees to dish out some of the most unforgettable and highly talked about moments of the year.  Oscar nominees have been announced and we can’t wait to see who scoops the awards!

For the past two decades Sky have been the ones to broadcast the event across the living rooms of the UK, but after the 20 year deal between Oscars rightsholder Disney and Sky came to an end, ITV have now swooped in and picked up the exclusive broadcast rights in the UK and will be broadcasting live the upcoming 96th Oscars on the 10th March.  As part of this new multi-year agreement with Disney, future Oscars ceremonies will be shown across ITV1 and its streaming platform ITVX.

According to Senior Acquisitions Manager Darren Nartey, ITVX already has a vast collection of films and their sharing of “the movie event of the year” “to film fans all across the UK further highlights their commitment to films.

There are also some partnership opportunities available across ITV’s broadcast and digital spaces, if this is something that interests you, please ask the team for more information!
